ספורה של הדר שחלתה ומצב רוחה ירוד, היא שוכבת עצובה במיטה ומתבוננת בקיר שמולה. אמא של הדר מחפשת דרך מקורית לשמח את בתה המנוזלת ומוצאת רעיון חביב ומיוחד המסייע להדר לשכוח ממכאובי המחלה ולהנות. בעזרת דמיון, אהבה ו"עבודת ידיים", יוצרת אמא של הדר על הקיר צלליות של חיות וכך פוגשת הדר צפור, ארנב, וכלבלב וכולם מסייעים לה להחלים ולהרדם מרוצה. הספר כתוב בחריזה זורמת וקצבית דבר המנעים את הקריאה לטף. האיורים ססגוניים ומלאי גווני צבע שונים. לכל עמוד צבע וגוון משלו והשניים מתערבבים וגולשים לעמודים הבאים. הצבעים משקפים את האווירה ההופכת מעצובה לקודרת לעליזה ושמחה בדיוק כמו מצב רוחה של הדר המשתפר במהלך הספור. לקוראים הצעירים מצפה הפתעה בעמוד האחרון של הספר בו ימצאו עמוד ליצירת צלליות, כדי שיוכלו להתאמן על יצירת צלליות בעצמם. מתכון בטח לשמח ילדים חולים ולא רק. מומלץ לגלאי .2-5.
