Juifs et judaisme

Enlarge text Shrink text

A textbook chronicling ancient and medieval Jewish history from the destruction of the Second Temple to the expulsion from Spain. Discusses Jewish life in the Roman Empire and under Islamic and Christian regimes. Relates, also, to persecution in medieval Europe. Contends that despite unceasing moral and physical oppression, study and adherence to tradition protected Jews throughout their wanderings. Includes excerpts from documents, and illustrations, chronological tables, and maps relevant to each era. (From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism - The Hebrew University of Jerusalem)
