Jew to head Hague court?
UNITED NATIONS: The one Jew in high places who survived the anti-Semitic purge in Poland, probably only be cause he is a member of the International Court of Justice at The Hague, will probably be elected president of the court. He is Dr Manfred Lachs, brilliant jurist who has repre sented Poland at the United Nations several times and has also directed the legal division of the Polish Foreign Minis try. His election which is gen erally forecast, is possible be cause Mr Mohammed Zafrul lah Khan, of Pakistan, has de cided not to, stand for re-elec tion.
Born in 1914, Dr Lachs was educated at Cracow, Vienna and Cambridge universities, as well as the London School of Economics and Moscow Uni versity. He was elected to the Inter national Court in 1965 and his term expires in 1976. (JCNS).
