⁨⁨Al-Iqdam⁩ - ⁨الإقدام⁩⁩

Al-Iqdam was a political newspaper that offered critical commentary from different political perspectives. The owner and CEO of al-Iqdam was Yusuf Salum, and its managing director was Salim al-Hilu (a resident of Haifa, originally from Beirut). The first issue came out on August 1st, 1926 in Haifa, but the newspaper later moved to Jaffa. Because of this, it was known as “the mobile newspaper,” meaning a newspaper that seeks its fortune in other cities. Al-Iqdam played an important role in the politics of Palestine and Egypt, becoming the mouthpiece of the Egyptian Wafd party. Some of the party’s leading writers and journalists participated in editing the newspaper, among them al-Aqqad, al-Nahhas Pasha, and others. Secret decisions of the Wafd party were often published in al-Iqdam before they reached the Egyptian newspapers.
