Planettiana Municipal Library

Housed in the Renaissance Palazzo della Signoria, built by the Sienese architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini, the municipal Biblioteca Planettiana was founded in 1859 thanks to Marquis Angelo Ghislieri who donated his own library. It took its name after the precious collection of books and archives the Pianetti family donated to the Municipality of Jesi. It houses many old volumes, manuscripts, incunabula and books published in the sixteenth century, all donated and deposited by private citizens and public institutions. Together with the modern volumes, they form a quantitatively and qualitatively significant collection of books. The municipal library preserves also the municipal historical archive and several archives of private an public institutions, which are frequently referred to for studies and research on local history and more.
