Examines the different effects of the youth journeys to Poland on Israeli and Canadian Jewish high school students, based on questionnaires distributed to 184 Israeli and 80 Canadian participants, before and after their trips. Regarding knowledge about the Holocaust, the results show that there was an increase amongst Israelis, but not for the Canadians. Regarding emotional expression, a high degree of negative emotions (e.g. anger, anxiety, threat, and fear) among the Canadians limited their attention and caused them to require more time to process the experience. Another factor which was measured, self-identity, was not significantly affected. However, the journey did affect most of the participants' Jewish identity, more intensely among the Canadians who gained a greater affinity to the State of Israel and to religion.
