The Bilbao Initiative

"On May 13th, 2008, PNGO (Palestinian Network of NGO´s), Ittijah (Union of Arab community based organizations in the State of Israel), the AIC (Alternative Information Center) and MEWANDO network decided to call for “The Bilbao initiative” intended as a civil society assembly: A space and a process where Palestinians, Europeans and anti-colonial Israeli representatives shared perspectives and debates about the challenges faced when developing an effective coordination tool for practical campaigning in solidarity for Palestine and for a just peace." "The Bibao Initiative" organized a conference in Bilbao, Spain during October 29th-31st 2008, under the title "Towards a Just Peace in Palestine." Over thirty Palestinian, Israeli, and international activists speaker and panelists shared perspectives, concerns, and laid groundwork for future efforts with the representatives of more than fifty civil society organizations present."--page 5
