"יומן שנכתב באושוויץ מיד לאחר שחרור המחנה " (מתוך גב הספר). ; Memoirs of the Grynfelds, who were both born in Łódź, Eliezer in 1923 and Rachel in 1925. Pp. 33-64 describe their experiences in the Holocaust. Eliezer worked as a clerk in the ghetto hospital until 1942, when all the patients were killed. He then worked for the ghetto factory administration until the liquidation in 1944. He was sent to Sachsenhausen and then on a death march, from which he escaped just before the liberation. His father was killed, but his mother survived in Ravensbrück. Rachel attended the ghetto high school until it was closed in 1942. In 1944 she was deported to Auschwitz with her parents and younger brother, who were killed. Her older brother had fled to Warsaw earlier and also perished. Rachel was sent to the Halbstadt labor camp, where she was liberated. The couple married in 1946 and emigrated to Israel in 1956. Mayer was born in Nancy, grew up in Lunéville, and served in the French army in 1939-40. He was arrested in June 1944 in the town of Vichy, where he lived posing as a non-Jew. He was sent briefly to Drancy and then to Auschwitz, where he was liberated. He returned to France and was reunited with his mother and brother.
