Les enfants du silence

Testimonies by French Jewish children who survived the Holocaust in hiding, aimed at readers between the ages of 10-12. Among the six testimonies are those of Robert Frank and Margot Cerf, the others being anonymous. Frank was born in 1929 in Metz. In 1939 his family was evacuated to Royan and transferred to a village in Dordogne a year later. In 1942 the family was deported to Auschwitz, except for Robert, who was a French citizen. Describes the many homes and institutions he stayed in until he was taken in by Dr. Milhaud in Paris in 1944. Margot Cerf, born in 1935, was placed in a convent by her mother in 1942 and baptized the same year. She stayed in the convent until 1944; after the war she was reunited with her family.
