Presents 151 original documents in Old Spanish concerning the general expulsion of the Jews from the Kingdom of Aragon in 1492. The introduction (pp. 5-37) argues that the main reason for the expulsion was the heavy pressure of the Inquisition, and that a first decree of expulsion was signed, in fact, by General Inquisitor Torquemada on 20 March 1492. Analyzes the text of the decree and appended instructions in order to describe the mechanism of the expulsion and the control of Jewish property. States that although a royal desire for fairness is evident in the documents, the Jews were victims of the abuses of the Inquisition and of the fiscal authorities, public officials, and private persons.
