Analyzes the condition of the Conversos in Spain (and Portugal) and the chronology of their persecution by the Inquisition, focusing on the 16th-18th centuries. also relates the persecution of the Chuetas. States that the hostility towards the Conversos was less of a political or religious matter than a popular obsession with the "hidden Jew" which set the basis for the "limpieza de sangre" laws and the "libros verdes".
