המכון הפוליטכני בריגה (הפוליטכניקום של ריגה) היה מוסד ראשון להשכלה גבוהה רב-תחומית בשטחי לטביה של היום; אז חלק מהאימפריה הרוסית. הקמתו ב-1862 נקשרה להפיכתה של ריגה למרכז תעשייתי ומסחרי חשוב, ולהתפתחות ענף תחבורת הרכבת ברוסיה. מטרת המכון הייתה הכשרת אינטליגנציה טכנית. האוסף כולל חומרים מתקופה שבין 1890 ל-1918. הוא כולל חומרים על פעילותן של אגודות סטודנטים בריגה לרבות רשימת אגודות של סטודנטים יהודים בריגה, רשימות החברים באגודות היהודיות, דוחותיהן, התכתבות עם רשויות החינוך המקומיות והאימפריאליות-מרכזיות, ובקשות להתיר את הקמת אגודות סטודנטים חדשות --

The collection contains materials relating to the activities of Jewish and some non-Jewish student associations and corporations in Riga. The administrative materials include correspondence with local and Imperial education authorities on the activities of student organizations, and correspondence with the police. Some of the letters inform the authorities of lectures on different themes. The collection contains reports and statues of the student organizations (including the Jewish Student Society Znanie, the Jewish Student Association Anatolica, The Self-Help Fund of the Jewish Students (Riga), the Jewish Student Society Vetulia, and many other organizations). A letter from 1909 includes a list of student organizations in Riga, with the years of their establishment or registration. There are also lists of the organizations’ members, requests to permit meetings, celebrations and other activities. The collection consists of reports on students' meetings, notifications on elections of the associations’ functionaries, requests to permit the establishment of new student associations, statistics and financial data, records on cultural and social activities of the associations. Materials from World War I reflect the student associations' activities after their evacuation from Riga to Moscow.

תקציר ביוגרפי The Polytechnical Institute of Riga was established in 1862 as the Polytechnikum of Riga. At the time it was the first multi-profile institution of higher education in the current territory of Latvia, then part of the Russian Empire. The Polytechnikum's first instructors came mainly from Germany, Switzerland and Austria-Hungary, and German was the language of instruction. In 1896 the Polytechnikum became a state-owned institution – a polytechnic institute. The language of instruction was changed from German to Russian. The institute was evacuated eastward during World War I and it was not re-established as an independent institution until 1958. Its modern counterpart is the Riga Technical University.
