Morris (Moe) Berg was born in 1902 to a Jewish family in New York City. In 1923, immediately upon graduation of Princeton University, Berg started his professional baseball career. In 1925 Berg played as a hitter with the Reading Keystones of the International Baseball League. In 1932 Moe Berg was invited to Japan to teach baseball. In 1942 Moe Berg resigned from Boston Red Sox and worked under Nelson Rockefellor who was coordinator of the Inter Americas as good will ambassador to Central and South America. In 1943, Berg accepted a position with the Office of Strategic Services as a Paramilitary Operations Officer in Special Activities Division. Between 1952 and 1954 Berg was hired by the CIA. Moe Berg died on May 29, 1972.
