Piyut Interpretation

  • • עוד יש מפרש לבן באופק / מול ענן שחור כבד - המפרש הלבן מסמל תקווה אל מול הענן השחור המסמל בשורה רעה, דאגה ופחד.
    • אור נרות החג רועד -אור הנרות הרועד, מסמל את האנשים, את דאגותיהם ואת חששותיהם.
    • כל שנבקש לו יהי - השורה הזו המופיעה באמצע הבתים, בסיומם ובסוף הפזמון, משקפת את עניינו המרכזי של השיר והוא התקווה והתפילה שרצונותינו ותקוותינו יתממשו (אל מול האיומים והסכנות)
    • אם המבשר עומד בדלת / תן מילה טובה בפיו - 'מבשר' בעברית מקראית הוא שליח המביא בשורה, ידיעה (ראו למשל שמואל ב, יח כו). לכן, למרות שבתרבות הישראלית תמונת המבשר בדלת מתקשרת דווקא לבשורה על מות חייל לפיכך מבקשת המשוררת שישמעו בשורות טובות מפיו של המבשר.
    • אם נפשך למות שואלת / מפריחה ומאסיף - הנפש שואלת למות מרוב התפעלות. אפשר גם לפרש שבמצב של יגון (למשל לאחר שמיעת בשורה רעה) הנפש מבקשת למות אפילו למראה פריחה ואסיף (ואולי דווקא לאור מראות משמחים אלו, המסמלים גם התחלה וסוף, את מחזוריות החיים, כמו בשיר 'החיטה צומחת שוב').
    • מה קול ענות אני שומע - קול ענות הוא קול מלחמה, ראו שמות לב יח.
    • לו תישמע בתוך כל אלה - בתוך קולות המלחמה, השופרות והתופים.
