Piyut Interpretation

  • • עַל הַנִּסִּים... – זהו המשך של ברכת ההודאה. בימי ההודאה, פורים וחנוכה מוסיפים על כל הטובות שעליהן מודים בכל תפילה ובברכת ההודאה על הארץ ועל המזון בברכת המזון את הנסים שנעשו בימים אלו.
    • וְעַל הַפֻּרְקָן – ועל ההצלה.
    • שֶׁעָשִׂיתָ לַאֲבוֹתֵינוּ בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם בִּזְּמַן הַזֶּה – שעשית לאבותינו בעבר בתאריכים הללו בשנה.
    • חַשְׁמוֹנָאִי – כינוי שושלת הכהנים שממנה באו המכבים.
    • כְּשֶׁעָמְדָה מַלְכוּת יָוָן... לְשַׁכְּחָם תּוֹרָתֶךָ וּלְהַעֲבִירָם מֵחֻקֵּי רְצוֹנֶךָ – כשמלכות יוון גזרה גזירות על ישראל כנגד לימוד תורה ושמירת מצוות, בעיקר מילה, קידוש החודש ושבת.
    • וְאַתָּה... עָמַדְתָּ לָהֶם בְּעֵת צָרָתָם – כיוון שריחמת עליהם, הגנת עליהם בשעת מצוקתם.
    • רַבְתָּ אֶת רִיבָם דַנְתָּ אֶת דִּינָם – נאבקת למענם.
    • מָסַרְתָּ גִבּוֹרִים בְּיַד חַלָּשִׁים... – הפכת את כל חוקי המלחמה, כך שהחלשים ומעטים גברו על הגיבורים והרבים.
    • לְךָ עָשִׂיתָ שֵׁם גָּדוֹל וְקָדוֹשׁ בְּעוֹלָמָךְ – בהתערבות נסית זו, כנגד המהלכים הטבעיים של המלחמה נודע שמך בעולם.
    • לְךָ עָשִׂיתָ שֵׁם... וּלְעַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל עָשִׂיתָ תְּשׁוּעָה... כְּהַיּוֹם הַזֶּה – לפי נחמיה ט, י וַתִּתֵּן אֹתֹת וּמֹפְתִים בְּפַרְעֹה וּבְכָל עֲבָדָיו וּבְכָל עַם אַרְצוֹ כִּי יָדַעְתָּ כִּי הֵזִידוּ עֲלֵיהֶם וַתַּעַשׂ לְךָ שֵׁם כְּהַיּוֹם הַזֶּה.
    • וְאַחַר כָּךְ בָּאוּ בָנֶיךָ לִדְבִיר בֵּיתֶךָ – אחרי הניצחון נכנסו ישראל לבית המקדש.
    • וּפִנּוּ אֶת הֵיכָלֶךָ וְטִהֲרוּ אֶת מִקְדָּשֶׁךָ – ישראל בהנהגת החשמונאים ניקו וטיהרו את המקדש ממה שטימאוהו היוונים.
    • וְהִדְלִיקוּ נֵרוֹת בְּחַצְרוֹת קָדְשֶׁךָ – והדליקו נרות במנורת המקדש.
    • וְקָבְעוּ שְׁמוֹנַת יְמֵי חֲנֻכָּה אֵלּוּ לְהוֹדוֹת... – וקבעו את שמונת ימי החנוכה בלוח השנה העברי, כדי שבכל הדורות יודו בהם על הנס.
