Kashshaf al-Sahra (Desert Scout) was a social and ethical youth sports magazine. The first issue was published on April 9th, 1931 in Haifa and appeared irregularly thereafter. It is owned by 'Atif Nurallah and Mutlaq 'Abd al-Khaliq. It was the first Palestinian magazine that focused on the scouts movement in general and the Arab scouts in particular. Little is known about Nurallah, but 'Abd al-Khaliq was well known both in Syria and Palestine for his contributions to cultural development. For example, he was did pioneering work in playwriting, and was the first Arab-Palestinian author to produce a poetic novel.
