Notes The main body of the text is written in Italian. On the margins on the left, long quotes and citations in Hebrew. In a number of places, passages in Hebrew were incorporated in the Italian text.
The composition, which seems to have been written for the heads of the inquisition in Italy, is a detailed letter defending Jewish books which were censored and confiscated during the Italian Inquisition.
The Hebrew sections contain quotes and citations from a wide spectrum of sources: from the Bible, Megillat Ta'anit and Josippon, Talmud and Midrash, Maimonides, Nahmanides' commentary on the Torah, as well as Isaac Abravanel and his book Rosh Amanah (2r), Sefer ha-Ikarim of Joseph Albo (2r, 2b), the Beth Yosef by Joseph Karo (5v) and others.
