| בשנים 1957-1955 למד אמיתי נאמן מוסיקה ב -Mannes School of Music הידוע בניו יורק. אז כתב את "חמדתי", כשהמטרה הייתה שהקהל ישתתף ויענה לסולן במילה חוזרת: בואי, קומי וכו'. עם שובו ארצה ב-1958 נמסר השיר "חמדתי" לצמד "רן ונמה", הלוא הם רן אלירן ונחמה הנדל והם ביצעו אותו בארץ ובתכניות הטלביזיה של אֵד סָליבֶן בארה"ב.
