לפיוט זה אין מלחין ידוע ולכן ייתכנו הבדלים בין הביצועים השונים הטקסט לקוח מתוך תפילת מנחה לשבת. אחד הלחנים של הפיוט הינו לחן חסידי שאומץ על ידי אברהם צבי אידלסון ב"ספר השירים" (ברלין, 1922). הלחן היה ידוע במעגלים חסידיים למגוון אירועים: כזמר לשבת "ברוך אל עליון" בפי יהודי הונגריה, כניגון ללא מילים או למילות "אל מסתתר בשפריר חביון" המושרים בטישים בפי החסידים. בשנות ה-50 שלמה זלמן ריבלין עיבד את הלחן למקהלה למילות "בספר חיים" בתפילות הימים הנוראים. השיר "אתה אחד" היה מושר באירועי "עונג שבת" שייסד ביאליק בתל אביב בשנת 1929 וכלל שירי שבת, והיה בין שירי הקודש המושרים בתנועות הנוער הציוניות. |
