  • השיר נכתב בשנת 1971 במיוחד עבור להקת הגבעטרון והופיע בתקליט הלהקה "עמק שלי" ביצא לאור באותה שנה. להקת הגבעטרון נוסדה בקיבוץ גבע בשנת 1947 כלהקה מקומית השרה על מאורעות פנימיים מהווי הקיבוץ. מחבר השיר, יצחק קינן, איננו קיבוצניק כלל. הוא מורה ומחנך וסופר, הוא שימש כמנהל בית-ספר, היה ראש המועצה המקומית בית-שאן וכיהן בעוד תפקידים ציבוריים חשובים. הוא ציין בראיון טלוויזיוני שמוצאו ממרוקו ומעיירת פיתוח, ולא מאחד מקיבוצי העמק (הוא כתב גם את השיר "עמק שלי"). למרות שאיננו איש קיבוץ, הוא לא מרגיש ניכור או ניתוק מהנופים החקלאיים של העמק, אלא דווקא הזדהות מלאה ועמוקה עם שדות השיבולים ועם העמק החלוצי כולו.
