| יעקב אורלנד סיפר: "זה היה לפני מלחמת העולם. הייתי בתל אביב בבית של דודתי. עד כמה שאני זוכר מרדכי זעירא כבר הביא לי את המנגינה ואני התאמתי לה את המלים". השיר נכתב בשנת 1937-38 בתקופת המאבק לפני מלחמת העולם השניה, ופורסם לראשונה בשנת 1938 ב"על משמר המולדת". |
