Photographs are printed in a book with a printed description beneath in French printed description: "En parcourant les fameux jardins de Jaffa, on ne peut s'empêcher de songer à cecoin de la Terre promise dont parle l'Écriture où coulaient des ruisseaux de lait et de miel. C'est une longue suite d'enclos dont l'étendue a presque quadruplé depuis cinquante ans. Que pouvons-nous ajouter à cette description toujours vraie qu'en a donnée le Tasse quand il dépeint les jardins d'Armide: 'A l'heureux désordre qui règne en ces lieux, on croirait du moins que la nature a voulu jouer l'art et l'imiter à son tour. Avec les fruits toujours verts, les arbres donnent des fleurs toujours nouvelles. Sur le même trone, sur la même feuille, la figue mûrit à côté de la figue naisante, la vigne sur les coteaux élance ses rameaux tortueux, et près d'une grappe qui fleurit étale une grappe toute brillante du nectar divin.'"
