Description At the upper cartouche Ahasuerus with the seven princes of Persia and Media are depicted. The bearded Ahasuerus sits on his throne on a platform under a baldoquin on the right of the cartouche. He holds a scepter in his left hand and points with his right hand to a man, probably Memucan, who stands before him (Es. 1:13-20). Six other men stand before the king and a soldier stands behind the throne, holding a bayonet and a shield. On the left of the panel, two post on horseback gallop towards a city with king's decree (Es. 1:21-22).At the lower cartouche Esther leaded to the King's palace is depicted. Hegai leads Esther and her seven maidens into the arched doorway of the women's building on the right. A carriage drawn by two horses can be seen in the background on the left (Es. 2: 8-9).
