Description Esther and Ahasuerus are depicted within an oval panel in the upper margin of the text column. The crowned Ahasuerus is seated on a throne at the entrance of a building set within a landscape and Esther, also crowned, stands before him. She touches the top of his scepter which he extends towards her (Es. 5:2). On the left a dog can be seen peeking out from behind the frame of the panel, next to a tree. The faces of Esther and Ahasuerus are erased. Two men are depicted hanging from either side of tall gallows (Es. 2:23). A group of people stands in the foreground of the scene. Another group of four people stands in the background and the figure on the left points to the gallows. The figures wear broad flat black hats and rectangular white collars over the back of their black robes.
