The Menasseh ben Israel Institute is an independent Dutch institute for Jewish studies, supported by the Jewish Historical Museum and the University of Amsterdam. The Menasseh ben Israel Institute concerns itself with the cultural diversity and intercultural dynamics in the Jewish Diaspora in general and in the Netherlands in particular as reflected in the life and works of Menasseh ben Israel. With its activities the Menasseh ben Israel Institute wishes to contribute to Jewish life in the Netherlands and the Dutch academic climate as a whole. Their activities range from setting up and executing (inter)national research projects, organising symposia and lectures, issuing scientific publications to promoting research into Jewish heritage in the Netherlands and encouraging the cooperation between researchers working Jewish studies throughout the Netherlands.
