Memoirs of a Jew born in 1927 in Sarajevo. Pp. 31-114 deal with the Holocaust period. When the Germans invaded Yugoslavia, the family fled from Sarajevo to Split (Croatia). Yael Maestro's father was arrested and incarcerated in the Jasenovac camp. She, her mother, and her brother and sister fled to the small town of Uvala Luka (today Uvala Mala Luka, also called Valle Malaluka), on the coast of an inlet of the Adriatic Sea, near Split; they remained there until the end of the war.
