"משהו אפל קורה ברחובות לוס אנג׳לס מדי לילה. משהו שד״ר דנה גורדון, ישראלית בתכנית חילופי סטודנטים באוניברסיטת קליפורניה, לא מצליחה להבין. מדי לילה מגיעות לסיפו של חדר המיון בבית החולים שבו היא מתמחה, נשים פגועות בדרגות פציעה שונות, אשר קיבלו טיפול מקדים ולעתים מציל חיים ברחובות בידי זר מסתורי. המטופלות קוראות לו המושיע. הצוות הרפואי קורא לו באטמן, כי הוא מסתובב ברחובות העיר האפלה, מגן על החלשים ונוקם ברעים. מי אתה, המושיע המסתורי? גם דנה רוצה לדעת, והיא לא תוותר עד שהיא תגלה. ד״ר תומר קליין עצר הכול ונסע לארצות הברית בחיפוש אחר איילת, חברת ילדות ואהובתו לשעבר. החקירה של תומר מביאה אותו אל המקומות החשוכים ביותר שיש ללוס אנג´לס להציע ועורכת לו היכרות אישית עם הרוע בהתגלמותו. לתומר יש משימה והוא נחוש בדעתו לבצע אותה, אך שום דבר לא מכין אותו לרגע שבו דנה נכנסת לחייו". -- מהמעטפת האחורית.
