"ברומן "המרדף" מגולל המחבר פרשה סוערת מתקופת "הסזון הגדול" (1944 – 1945), בה נרדפו עד חורמה לוחמי האצ"ל ולח"י ואלה שנחשדו כתומכים בהם על–ידי "היישוב המאורגן" ומוסדותיו. המחבר מתאר את המרדף אחר זוג צעיר ובתם הקטנה, את עמידת החברים בצו העליון של מפקדם מנחם בגין שקרא וחזר וקרא: "לעולם לא מלחמת אחים!" ואת עמידת הלוחמים במילוי הוראה זו גם בתנאים הקשים של רדיפה, נידוי חברתי ואף הפעלת אלימות כלפיהם" -- מן המעטפת האחורית.
