"בעיצומה של מלחמת העולם הראשונה, בשעת הדמדומים של השלטון העותומני בארץ, מגיעה משפחת קרוצ'י בדרך הים, לאחר מסע הרפתקני ממושך, היישר אל שכונת גבול ירושלמית. שכונה הצופה אל החומות ומנתצת מחיצות, שדמויותיה מרתקות, ציוריות ומיוסרות. יהודים, נוצרים ומוסלמים החולקים שמחה, צער ומנוסה, כשהם מגשרים על אמונות ודתות. הדמויות תועות ומרחפות במסע אנושי רגיש וכאוב בעיבורן של מלחמות ושנאות, שכופות דתות ודעות. סיפורה של עקירה ובריחה, חזרה אל מחוזות ילדות שנמוגו ולבית ששוב אינו אותו הבית. זהו גם סיפורו של בית אחד, בית - לורנצו, נווה עלום וקסום בלבו של גן אפוף מסתורין. סיפורו של יוסף קרוצ'י התם וההוזה שצלילי העוד שלו באים במקום מילות תפילה לשמיים נעולים, שבנגינתו מנסה לאחד בין דתות מסוכסכות, תחת עץ הדפנה בגן - לורנצו ובבוסתנו של אבו - חנא. סיפורן של נשים מיוסרות ועזות אופי התועות בסמטאות ערפיליות, כשכדורים שורקים מעל לראשיהן. נשים הלכודות בין עקרות מרצון לבין עקירה מאונס. נשים מלאות לב, הצדות פרפרים בשדות פרגים של אהבות אבודות"-- מתוך האתר סימניה.
