"ב ־17 בספטמבר 2002 מחליט ינון מועלם, מלחין ואמן כלי הקשה מזרחיים, בן להורים ממוצא עיראקי, לעזוב את ביתו שבשכונת נווה צדק בתל אביב ולעקור לאיסטנבול; הוא אורז את חפציו ועם ארגז של כלי נגינה, מזוודה אחת וגב תפוס מחרדה, הוא נוסע לתורכיה על מנת לצאת למסע מוזיקלי ואישי מיוחד במינו. בתורכיה הוא מצטרף להרכב מוזיקלי שמנגן עבור משרד התרבות התורכי. הוא מופיע בביקורים ממלכתיים של ממשלת תורכיה, משתתף כסולן בתזמורת פילהרמונית בין־לאומית, מוציא לאור שמונה אלבומים של יצירותיו, ומתאהב בדילק התורכייה. בעיצומו של משבר מדיני חריף בין ישראל ותורכיה, מקבל מועלם את תפקיד נספח התרבות הישראלית בתורכיה. ינון מועלם, בכתיבתו הכנה והריאליסטית, חולק עם קוראיו את חוויית החיים בין שתי מדינות השרויות בקונפליקט מדיני-דתי־תרבותי, ומשתף את הקורא בעולמו המורכב של מוזיקאי רגיש, שחייו ויצירתו חצויים בין שתי ארצות, שתי תרבויות." -- כריכה אחורית.
