'הספר עוסק בשחיקת מורים ונשירה מהוראה מעסיקים רבות חוקרים, חינוכאים ומכריכה של שרגאקבלי החלטות. בשנים האחרונות החל להעסיק את החוקרים גם המושג זהות מקצועית והקשר שלו לשחיקה. בספר זה תשעה מחקרים שנערכו בעשור האחרון. המחקרים מבקשים להשוות בין קבוצות שונות של מורים ביחס לזהותם המקצועית, לשחיקה שלהם ולקשר שבין הזהות המקצועית והשחיקה. הספר נפתח בגיבוש המושג "זהות מקצועית" באמצעות מחקר ובניית סולם למדידתו. בין השאר אפשר למצוא בספר מחקר הבוחן הבדלים בין מורים המשתתפים בתוכנית "אופק חדש" ובין מורים שאינם משתתפים ביחס לזהות מקצועי ולשחיקה, ומחקר הבוחן את ההבדלים בין מורים המשתתפים בתכנית "עוז לתמורה" ובין מורים שאינם משתתפים. כמו כן אפשר למצוא בספר מחקרים על מחנכי כיתות, על מורים בחינוך המיוחד, על מדריכים במועדון לנוער בסיכון גבוה ועל סדנא לגיבוש זהות מקצועית של פרחי הוראה'. -- מהמעטפת האחורית.
