"זהו סיפור קולח הכתוב בגילוי לב, ומתאר בלא מעט הומור – וגם בעצב – מסכת חיים יוצאת דופן של דב (דביקי) גולן. הוא פורשׂ יריעה רחבה, החל בילדותו בבית דתי בשכונת בורוכוב ועד לחיי הגשמה בקיבוץ גבים, שם שימש, במהלך ארבעים שנותיו כחבר הקיבוץ, בתפקידים מרכזיים רבים: בתחילת הדרך בתוך המשק ובהמשך מחוץ לקיבוץ, בניהול מערכות ארציות במשק ובכלכלה הקיבוצית. החל מחוויותיו בנסיעות לארצות הברית בשנות ה־60 למען שיווק הפרחים של גבים, בהמשך בהקמת מפעל "תפוגן", וכמנהל המפעלים האזוריים בשער הנגב, ועד להתמודדות המורכבת עם המשברים והאתגרים הכלכליים שפקדו את התנועה הקיבוצית בשנות ה־80, כששימש בתפקיד ראש אגף הכלכלה של התק"מ. נוסף על כך מילא דביקי תפקידים מרכזיים בתחום הביטחון באזור הדרום וביישובי הנגב במשך עשרים וחמש שנים, שבהן היה יו"ר מטה פיקוד דרום לתחבורה בשעת חירום. הספר נוגע בחברויות מיוחדות, בחקירות בפרשות דרמטיות, ובמשברים ואסונות שפקדו אותו והובילו אותו לפתוח דרך חדשה מחוץ לקיבוץ"--מן הכריכה האחורית.
