Memoirs of the author, a Dutch Jew born in 1922 in Borken. During World War II he refused to wear the yellow star or to go into hiding. He found work on a farm and a place to live near the city of Arnhem, where he remained until the end of the war. He had three sisters; he managed to save two of them. The third sister was murdered in Sobibór. His father died in Mauthausen, and his mother died on a death march from Auschwitz to Ravensbrück. After the war, he and his wife, also a Holocaust survivor, emigrated to Israel.
