"אמא, תחייכי!" קורא נועם. הוא לא יודע שהמשפט הזה, הסתמי כל כך, צורב לי בבשר. אמש גנב את האפיקומן וקיבל מסבתא שושנה מצלמה. בליל של צלילים מתערבל לי באוזניים, שוזר בין הווה לעבר. מטקות. כדור. קרקושי הסכו"ם בחדר האוכל. גפילטע פיש עם כתר. הגדה. "עבדים היינו" ו"אחד מי יודע". ואחת - מי יֵדע? מוכרחים להיות שמח. וכמה בּוֹר. וכמה שתיקה. "לאן?" שואל ערן כשאני קמה. "לחדר." רגע אחד לעצמי, זה כל מה שאני מבקשת. רגע אחד עם הזיכרון שלא ידהה לעולם. תחושה של נימול עולה מהזרת ומתפשטת בכף הרגל. תופים ברקות. האש מתגברת. כאן זה היה. חוף הזוגות היה אז חשוך ומוצנע. הוא הגיע מהצפון, בג´יפ הצבאי, המאובק לתפארת, והיא ירדה מהרכבת. אחרי שניער את השמיכה וקיפל אותה למלבן סימטרי הוא אמר לה שיהיה בסדר. לא סתם אמר, הבטיח. נשבע. רק שתחייך. והיא האמינה. וחייכה. וחיכתה. החושך יורד. היעלמותה המסתורית של מיה-בלי-אל"ף, מטפלת זוגית במקצועה, קוטעת את החופשה הפסטורלית על שפת הים. כשהדקות מתארכות לשעות, החרדה מתגברת. מיה היא אמא לשלושה, בעצם לארבעה, ולא מתאים לה להיעלם. האם נחטפה? מי חשוד במעורבות במעשה? מדוע בעלה מסרב להזעיק את המשטרה? במהלך החיפושים יוצאים ממחבואם הסודות האפלים של "המשפחה הטובה" ..." -- מן המעטפת האחורית.
