"שלום," אמרתי בעברית לאיש שעמד בפתח, "אתה יונתן?" הוא ספק שאל ספק קבע. "סליחה," השבתי, "אבל מי רוצה לדעת?" "סתם עורך דין שמחפש את יונתן," הוא השיב. "למה? מה הוא כבר עשה?" "כלום," השיב האיש, "הוא לא עשה שום דבר. אז אתה לא יונתן?" "כן, אני יונתן," עניתי לו בחוסר סבלנות. עכשיו כבר הייתי בטוח שהאורח הלא צפוי הוא ערבי. "אני יודע מי אתה," הוא אמר לפתע בערבית. "אתה, לא יונתן, אתה אמיר.אתמול ביקרתי אצל אימה שלך בג'לג'וליה. מעניין מה היא תחשוב כשתגלה שהבן היחיד שלה מת." שתקתי רגע והמשכתי לעמוד מול האיש, ששלף מכיס הז'קט שלו קופסת סיגריות ומצית, "מעשן?" הוא שאל בערבית. הנהנתי בראשי ולקחתי סיגריה. אחר כך נשמתי נשימה עמוקה והתחלתי לספר. גוף שני יחיד, ספרו השלישי של סייד קשוע, מביא את כישרונו הספרותי לשיא בשלותו ומציג אותו כאחד מגדולי המספרים בספרות העברית כיום. הרומן שוזר את סיפוריהם של עורך דין ממזרח ירושלים, סטודנט מטירה, נער ישראלי משכונת בית הכרם ואמו למסכת עוצרת נשימה על אהבה ובגידה, אמנות ונאמנות, ועל הסתירות והעמדות הפנים שבתוכן אנו חיים את חיינו." -- מעטפת אחורית
