בספר זה פורש המחבר את עמדותיו הדתיות המקוריות של הרב עמיטל בנושא השואה על רקע ההגות הציונית דתית, ומציג לקורא התמודדות כנה וכואבת של הוגה בן זמננו עם השואה (מאתר "כותר"). ; Discusses the Holocaust theology of Rabbi Yehuda Amital (ne Klain), a Holocaust survivor who was born in Transylvania in 1924 and whose family perished in Nazi camps. Amital does not accept the ultra-Orthodox view that the Holocaust was a punishment for sins, because it was too severe. He initially accepted the view of Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Kook, who believed that the Holocaust occurred to facilitate the creation of a Jewish state, and that it was the beginning of a process of redemption. Later, however, although Amital saw the hand of God in the Holocaust, he contended that we cannot understand why it happened or why there is any suffering. He views the Jewish state as a consolation for the Holocaust, not as part of a redemption in the messianic sense. Pp. 107-124 contain three lectures delivered by Amital between 1985-98, in which he discussed his views on the Holocaust.
