"מ"סתם ציונות" ל"ציונות כללית" הנו מחקר חלוץ על ראשית התארגנותם, כמעט בעל כורחם, של ה"סתם-ציונים" מההסתדרויות הציוניות הארציות, לסיעה "ציונית-כללית" כמעט מפלגתית בהסתדרות הציונית העולמית, בשנות השלושים. על רקע הסערות שפקדו את ההסתדרות הציונית העולמית עם פרישתו של הנשיא וייצמן, הקיטוב הפוליטי והחברתי בישוב ובתנועה הציונית ועליית משקלה של התנועה הציונית במזרח-אירופה, מציג המחבר, על סמך חומר ארכיוני עשיר, פנורמה של המחנה הציוני-כללי בארץ ובגולה, תכניו הרעיוניים וההיסטוריה הפנימית של "הברית העולמית של הציונים-הכלליים" בשנות השלושים. על רקע המיפגש בין הציונים-הכלליים ממזרח-אירופה, ממערב-אירופה ומארץ-ישראל וההשתלבות הגדלה והולכת של חלוצים ציונים-כלליים בחיי העבודה בארץ, מנתח המחבר את ה"שיבול" של הפילוג, שליווה מחנה זה מאז התארגנותו ואת תנועות המטולטלת איחוד-פילוג בשנים אלה. פרק מרכזי בספר זה מוקדש לתיאור קורות הסיעה הציונית-ראדיקלית, בהנהגתו של יצחק גרינבוים." -- מהכריכה האחורית.
