Heckling Hitler

Enlarge text Shrink text

An account of the rise of Hitler and the history of the Third Reich through a selection of anti-Nazi cartoons from Western and Central Europe and Germany. Notes that Hitler's antisemitic program was reflected in these works but does not emphasize this aspect of his ideology. The chapter on the Thousand Year Reich (pp. 67-82) includes caricatures ridiculing Nazi racial policy. Mentions the role played by exiled artists and writers in the struggle against Nazism, and their influence in shaping public attitudes to Nazi Germany in Britain, France, and the USA. (From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism - The Hebrew University of Jerusalem)
