Requesting Manuscripts from the National Library

I hereby agree:

  1. Permission is granted for personal use only.
  2. The images may be used by the applicant alone and may not be transferred to another party without permission of The National Library of Israel.
  3. Not to publish in any form whatsoever the material requested by the applicant, either all or in part, without first obtaining written permission from the Manuscripts Department.
  4. That every publication that may ensue will acknowledge The National Library of Israel, Jerusalem as manuscript owner and display the manuscript shelf and film number.
  5. That two copies of every such publication shall be presented to the Manuscripts Department. If the publication is a book printed in Israel, there is an additional requirement of two copies to be presented to The National Library of Israel.
  6. Photocopy and/or scanning costs and permission fees are to be paid to The National Library of Israel according to the rates it fixes.
  7. The National Library of Israel retains the right to display the digitized manuscript on its website six months after the scan has been made.

Requesting Manuscripts from External Institutions

I hereby agree:

  1. Not to publish in any form whatsoever the material requested by me, either all or in part, without first obtaining written permission from the institution that owns the manuscript. The National Library of Israel (hereinafter: “The National Library”) can assist you in obtaining the institution’s contact information.
  2. That every printed publication that may ensue will show the library name and manuscript shelf number at the holding library as well as the film number at The National Library.
  3. That two copies of every such publication shall be presented to the Manuscripts Department of The National Library. If the publication is a book printed in Israel, there is an additional requirement of two copies to be presented to The National Library.
  4. Scanning costs and permission fees are paid to The National Library according to the rates fixed by The National Library.

I am aware that the institution which has made the manuscript available to The National Library of Israel is likely to request any or all of the information submitted on this form, and by submitting this form I hereby consent to The National Library’s transmission of the information to such institution. I hereby waive any claims against The National Library and the institution with regard to the information submitted on this form as aforesaid.
