תשעה-עשר דפי קרטון עבה בצבע חום, בגודל 28X40 ס"מ, שמשני צדיהם הודבקו בסך-הכל 145 תצלומים בשחור לבן, בגדלים ובטכניקות שונות. תחת חלק מן התצלומים נוספו תיאוריהם, בלשון הגרמנית. ככל הנראה, אלבום זה נוצר על ידי חייל או קצין גרמני אשר שירת בימי מלחמת העולם הראשונה בחזית ארץ ישראל. חלק מן התצלומים הנם תצלומים רשמיים אשר נרכשו על ידי יוצר האלבום, כנראה כבר לאחר תום המלחמה (ובכלל זה תצלום כניעת ירושלים לפני הבריטים ב-2 בדצמבר 1917) ואילו חלק מן התצלומים צולמו במצלמה פרטית קטנה. באלבום כלולים גם תצלומי אוויר, בעיקר של איזור ירושלים, אשר בוצעו בידי טייסת המיפוי של חיל האוויר הגרמני. בתצלומים נראות גם יחידות שדה שונות של הצבא הגרמני ושל הצבא התורכי, בעיקר באיזור באר שבע והדרום, וכן בירושלים. על פי תצלומי בית החולים הצבאי אשר במגרש הרוסים והצוות הרפואי שם, ובכלל זה ד"ר תאופיק כנעאן (Tawfiq Canaan) ניתן לשער כי יוצר האלבום היה קצין רפואה. על האלבום אין כל פרטים באשר למקורו או ליוצרו, וככל הנראה יחד עם כריכתו המקורית אבדו גם אחדים מדפיו.
