Among the new security measures being unveiled there are the following: - that the large Yitzhak Hall will be inaccessable to Jews -a series of electronic security devices strategically placed - metal doors separating the Yitzhak Hall from the other halls - metal detectors at the entrance that sound if guns are taken in. Deputy Defense Minister Mordechai Gur went to the cave to inspect the new arrangements October 18 1994 but refused to be drawn on when precisely the cave will be reopened. Hebron Jewish community spokesman Noam Arnon criticized the banning of Jews from the Yitzhak Hall: "We can not live with a situation where we will permanently be separated from one of our forefathers (lsaak) buried there. |
