Scope and content Ever since the State of Israel's establishement in 1948, she has been in state of war with the neighnour that shared more of Israel's norder than any other country - Jordan. That state of war ended with the Washinton Declaration of 25 July 1994 and finally put into effect on the ground, 8 August 19994, in the Arava. There, Israel PM Yitzhak rabin and Jordan's Crown Prince Hassan opened the first border crossing between the two countries 6 km north of Eilat, in the presence of USA Secretary of State Christipher, Israel For.
