Title Israel Military Industries Workers Protest.
Scope and content An estimated 1,500 workers from (I.M.I.) lsrael Military Industries closed off for three hours one of lsrael's main inter-city highways as a protest against the governments proposal to lay-off some 2,000 l,M,I. workers, Although the protest caused much disruption including the need to bring in hundreds of police reinforcements, there were no reports of serious violence. the l,M.l. management want to cut back the 7,000 work force to 4,800 due to the dramatic drop in export orders in the industry, I.M.l, like similar industries in other countries, has seen its order book much reduced due to the reduction of tension in the world following the end of the cold war. Photo shows: The picture shows a group of I.M. l. workers giving press photographers a " photo opportunity" during their protest on the Geha Road between Ra'anana and Morasha Junction.
