There is no doubt that money is a commodity in short supply for many of the new Russian immigrants to Israel. Grants made to the immigrants are soon used up just in buying basic items. Matters are made worse by the difficulty in finding jobs; particularly those jobs that require Hebrew Many immigrant families are having a hard time to make ends meet, particularly as rental accommodation on the private market has soared in the past year. As a means of giving positive help to new immigrants, until they are able to fend for themselves, a group of various German Jewish communities have raised money in Germany to provide needy immigrants with hot meals. A centre has been set up in Tel-Aviv's B'nai Brith headquarters to provide one hundred hot meals per day. A fully balanced nourishing meal is provided for a nominal payment of one shekel ( 40 US cents );. Photo shows: The picture shows three representatives (standing) from the Frankfurt and Dusseldorf communities who provide the funding for the meal service. A new immigrant family from Kishienev who arrived in Israel two month ago is seen enjoying a meal at the B'nai Brith headquarters in; Tel -Aviv.
