Biographical summary Carl Ehrenstein (Vienna 1892 - London 1971), Austrian-British-Jewish author, poet and translator of English and Danish literature. Born in Austria, Ehrenstein moved to England in 1922 and worked there as translator of literature and as a literary agent for both English and German speaking authors and publishers.
Ownership history The archive was permanently deposited in the National Library by Ehrenstein's widow, Maud, after his death in 1971.
Language Note The material is mostly in German, but there also large parts in English.
