Biographical summary חיים בכור הלוי נולד בעיר איזמיר, תורכיה, בשנת 1815. היה מנכבדי הקהילה היהודית בעיר. לצד עיסוקו כרופא, התעניין גם באסטרונומיה ונחשב לחכם תורני. נפטר בעירו איזמיר, בשנת 1905.
Ownership history התעודות באוסף נרכשו על ידי בית הספרים הלאומי והאוניברסיטאי בשנת 1963, כחלק מאוסף כתבי יד וספרים עתיקים אשר מכר אברהם הלוי, בנו של חיים בכור הלוי.
