Alfred Dreyfus (1859-1935), a Jewish officer in the French military which was falsely accused of espionage. The archive includes personal documents, letters, judicial documents from the Dreyfus trial, caricatures regarding the trial and newspaper clips.

Biographical summary Dreyfus was born in Mulhouse, Alsace to a wealthy assimilated family. He joined the general staff of the French army, where he was the only Jew. In 1894 he was falsely accused of treason, court-martialed and convicted. Only in 1906 was he exonerated and reinstated as a major. He fought in World War 1 and became a lieutenant colonel.
Ownership history The material was transfered on July 1, 1975 by Dreyfus' daughter, Ms. Levy and his grandson, Dr. Jean-Louis Levy.
