Chave (Eva) Loevy was born in Berlin on January 17, 1908 to Gertrude and Zigfeid Leovy. She grew up in a Zionist home and went to Hebrew school on Sunday mornings. In addition she received a musical education. She was a member of the Zionist Youth Organization 'Blau Weiss" where she went on hikes and camping trips. After completing her high school education, she went on to study for a BA and MA in chemistry at the Berlin Technion. Along with her studies, Eva excelled in sports, and due to her achievements, she was included in the delegation of Jewish-German youth to the first Macabbiah Games in 1932 (28.3 – 5.4). In the athletics competition she won first place in the women's hammer throw (8.79 meters) and javelin (29.5 meters) and third place in the discus throw (23.07 meters). Eva took advantage of her stay in Israel to travel all around the country. This photo collection includes, apart from a single picture from the opening ceremony of the Maccabiah Games, photographs of the surrounding areas in Yafo and Tel-Aviv; from her visits to Jerusalem, Rachel's Tomb, the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea; in the North: the Kinneret, the electric plant in Naharayim, Nazareth, and in the Kibbutzim Givat Brenner, Beit Alpha and Ein Harod. The photos here are later copies of the original photographs. At the end of her few weeks in Israel Eva returned home to Berlin and one year later, in 1933, she moved to Israel. She was not able to find work as a chemist and worked for awhile in the Keshet dry cleaning company. In 1936 she married Martin Wolf, who also came from Germany, and they moved to Yokne'am where they established an agricultural farm that was based on cows. The couple had a son (1937) and twins (1943). With the passing of the head of the family (4.1.1967) Eva had to give up running the farm. She completed a course for tour guides and travel agents and earned a living guiding German speaking tourists. Eva passed away on 13.7.1993.
