In 1971 he was given the honor of placing the corner stone for the building of the new campus of the University in Be'er Sheva. In 1973 he was awarded an honorary fellowship from the University in Be'er Sheva. David Tuviyahu passed away, at the age of 77, in 1975 in Be'er Sheva, the city where he lived. Leah (Liza) his wife died in 1975 in Be'er Sheva. She was buried in Yarkona. To honor his memory a boulevard was named after him in Be'er Sheva. In addition a high school and the Archives for the Study of Be'er Sheva and the Negev in Ben-Gurion University were named for his memory. This collection of photographs which was given to the archives at Yad Ben-Zvi by his children, Dan & Rina, enables us a peek into his personal life as well as his public activities. The collection of photographs includes family pictures of Shimon (Mony) Dotan Goldman, the husband of Rina Dotan Toviahu. Shimon (Mony) was born in 1923 in Poriah to Ze'ev Goldman and Yonah Goldin. In the 1930's he moved to Jerusaelem and afterwards to Kibbutz Yagur (1942). He joined the Palmach and fought with the Harel Brigade in the War of Independence. (1948). Towards the end of 1949 he worked for the JNF. He passed away in May 2006. In 2007 his family published a book in his memory: "Mony: His Life Story 1923-2006".
