תצלום של הנוכחים באולם שבו נערכה פתיחת הקונגרס הציוני השני בעיר בזל, שוויץ, ביום 28 באוגוסט 1898. על דוכן הנואמים, במרכז הבמה, נראה במטושטש ד"ר בנימין זאב (תאודור) הרצל, נושא את נאום הפתיחה. משמאלו של הרצל נראה מקס נורדאו, ומימינו, ד"ר מנדלשטם. על הקיר ביציע האולם, נראה דגל התנועה הציונית - שני פסי תכלת, מגן דוד ובתוכו שבעה כוכבים ואריה. בפינתו הימנית התחתונה של התצלום הוטבע שמו של הצלם, Robert Spreng. בגב התצלום נוספה הערה בכתב ידו של ד"ר יוסף חזנוביץ', המזהה תצלום זה עם הקונגרס הציוני הראשון, אך ככל הנראה זוהי טעות, והתצלום נעשה בפתיחת הקונגרס הציוני השני. תצלום זה נתרם לבית הספרים על ידי ד"ר חזנוביץ' בראשית המאה העשרים. |
